The program of enterprise visit was organized and sponsored by CTCI Foundation. Thirty one graduate students from various nations had participated in 2017 industrial visits. The trip included to one governmental organization, InvesTaiwan Service Center, and five important corporations such as MiTAC Information Technology, CTCI Corporation, Advantech, Rhymebus, and HIWIN Technologies during August 23-25 of 2017. The main objectives behind the visit were to inform international graduate students to various activities related to investment, foreign employee regulation, and link to the industries in Taiwan. In this respect, it was a good chance to “touch” the state of the technology in application and foretell the trends of the industry for the next decades. The participants were well greeted by company representatives as soon as we arrived at each company. It was great to know these companies followed the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). For instance, CTCI Corporation was the first to be recognized for its “Contribution to the Society” by investing in many social activities in Taiwan. I gained a better understanding of daily operation of global companies after this visit. I also got a chance to transfer knowledge from theory to practice, such as company’s presentation explains how knowledge turns into practical implication. This helped to clarify my research field in the future. As for future career opportunity, I would be very proud to be employed by Rhymebus Corporation. The major goal of Rhymebus is to develop clean energy in the future. Believing in the concept of “Not Being the Best, But Always Better than Ever” and “Searching For Excellence, Progress, and Development”, Rhymebus keeps providing excellent quality products with fast service to customers so as to fulfill the commitment of creating a greener and better environment with its investors. The company is currently serving customers in my region of Egypt and Kenya of the African region. There were two suggestions for improvement. One was that companies could consider inviting R&D team during Q&A sessions. This was important to graduate students with engineering backgrounds, since sales managers or directors might not necessarily well explained about technical inquiries. As well, HR representative could also consider collecting participants’ resumes during the visit. In conclusion, I would like to extend my gratitude to CTCI Foundation for their financial support to make our visit a success and thank our accompanying staffs for their love and care. God bless you!

The visit helped me to understand that Taiwanese companies are competitive in world business, especially in the manufacturing area. Most of the products I observed are up-to date and smart based on the demands of the current society. I also learned these companies are pioneered by Taiwanese citizens—the knowledge needed to design, manufacture and manage such companies is homing born which is the key for the current development of Taiwan. After the trip, I understand that there is a big opportunity for me to work for R&D position or product lines at chemical companies or those that produce materials with smart technology such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, textile and cosmetics companies. I also got to meet other foreign students living in Taiwan from this trip. It was easy for me to talk and exchange views with other participants as they were very nice people, regardless of their speaking languages, skin colors, or cultures. This makes me feel confident for the future wherever my destination will be, as I can work with people from different backgrounds. Here below were some comments for the trips. Sun Moon Lake was worth visiting; the pure and green lake water, the lake view from the hotel upper floor, and the boat sightseeing trip were all awesome. I enjoyed the traditional dance with original people; I liked them as well as the music. I enjoyed Taiwanese food as I tried on some sea foods for the first time which was very delicious. A suggestion was that for future visits, team activity could be considered during the visit that could help to strength relationships among participants. Generally speaking, this trip shows me that Taiwan is on the point of no return towards smart and green development. CTCI Foundation has tried to create opportunities to attract foreign talents for Taiwanese companies as investors or contributors of knowledge to maximize product quality and service with better standard around the world. Keep it up. As for me, I hope I can make some contribution as a foreign talent, and also from can be benefited from this win-win relationship with companies in the future. Thank you very much!

CTCI Foundation organized an activity called “2017 Enterprise Visit for International Graduate Students”, which was a very interesting program for helping international students to pursue careers in Taiwan. I was very happy to be able to participate in the program as a final-year student. In the trip, I was glad to meet with many other participants who are very talented and friendly international students. Together, we visited high-tech and green enterprises in Taiwan and learned about business operations and working environments. The InvesTaiwan Service Center gave me a lot of useful information for the requirement to work professionally as well as details on working and residence in Taiwan. It was useful for me and other students who would like to acquire jobs in Taiwan. At the CTCI Corporation, we saw professional working environment which many people would feel comfortable to work there. And MiTAC, Advantech, Rhymebus, and HIWIN were actually the leading companies in their fields. It was my honor to see and talk face to face with representatives such as director or sale manager from the visit companies. I was impressed with their knowledge, vision, and speech. And all of the company representatives were all friendly and enthusiastic. For the last day, we had the opportunity to visit Taichung and Miaoli where were lands with beautiful landscapes. I liked those places very much. In my opinion, Taiwan is a developed country with many industrial leading companies. At each visited company, I discovered recent developments and gained valuable experiences for my future work. I thought the Taiwanese government is very caring for nature protection and the local residents maintain the environment clean and green. All in all, I was happy after joining the program! Thanked CTCI Foundation for being a generous program sponsor. CTCI Foundation gave me a great opportunity to develop myself, extend my network, make friendships, and discover the corporate environments and cultures in Taiwan. I also liked the staffs very much because of their enthusiasm, and support during the program. I look forward to joining other programs in the future and will introduce my friends to join this program.

I would like to sincerely thank the CTCI Foundation for organizing such an amazing event which motivates international graduate students to pursue careers in Taiwan. The InvesTaiwan Service Center provided us with information about business-friendly investment services in Taiwan. ITSC offers a single window for investment services, and uses a project-oriented, dedicated case manager with specific responsibilities, and customized start-to-finish service approach to assist investing firms. MiTAC Information Technology Corp. has inherited rich experiences in system integration and core technology from MiTAC Inc.. That allows the transformation from a solution supplier focusing on system integration of hardware into a solution supplier on IoT (Internet of Things) for cloud services of system integration. CTCI Corporation was founded in 1979 with headquarter in Taipei; it is the largest engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm in Taiwan. Through years of hands-on experience and outstanding services, CTCI Corp. has earned international prestige and goodwill. It is also underpinned by preeminent workforce, stable financial status and efficient managerial systems. Advantech Corporation has been a leading supplier of system integration and design services. It is also actively working on becoming a global company with a critical influence in automation industry, embedded computers and Internet of Things. Their current market share of industrial computers is 29%, ranking as the first in the world. Besides, the number of employees is about 8,000 people and the market value is NT$ 132 billion, with service points located in 23 countries and 95 cities. Founded in 1987, Rhymebus Corporation is a professional manufacturer of AC inverter, auxiliary control equipment, and project design of automation control system integration. Focusing on the concept of energy-saving system related to the high efficiency motor IE3 rising, Rhymebus is actively involved in the development of energy-saving products. HIWIN Technologies Corp. was established in 1989, and known as the 2nd largest linear motion control and system technology manufacturer in the world. HIWIN has been greatly devoted to R&D innovation and brand innovation and received “National Innovation Awards” for years. Furthermore, its pride also included receiving honors such as Forbes Asia’s “200 Best under a Billion”, “National Enterprises Innovation Award”, “Frist Taiwan Mittelstand Award.”, and the No.50 of “Most Innovative Growth Companies 2014”. The activity definitely gives us a better understanding about prospects of Taiwan’s corporations and working environments, and brings positive interactions between corporations and international students.

Originally, I had applied for the CTCI program because I was interested in the Rhymebus Corp. and visit to the Sun Moon Lake. After the trip, I think the program is great and useful for students and as well as these companies. For students, visiting enterprise representatives gave us introduction about the company, its vision, corporate culture, and the site tour of daily operations and product development. It helped us to understand what these companies are working on right now and what kinds of challenges they are facing. For companies, it would be a good chance to introduce their business to students coming from different countries. This may help them to attract foreign talents and the corporate brand can be well known internationally. From the visit, I learned that Taiwan’s multi-national companies such as MiTAC, HIWIN, and Advantech are leaders in their fields. Personally, the Tier Two visiting companies did not fully match my major of power electronics for job matching, but InvesTaiwan Service Center gave me clear understandings on what I need to do or have in order to find a suitable job in Taiwan. In the third day, I enjoy the time at the Sun Moon Lake which is a popular tourism site in Nantou Taiwan. It was good to learn the local history and the culture of people living there. I enjoyed the beautiful dance performance and the visit to the Hakka Cultural Development Center. Generally speaking, the program was well executed. There were no issues about transportation, food, or accommodation, and everything went smoothly. The visit also helped us to build a new professional networking with people from other countries, which is very important to career development in the future. I appreciate the support and effort for people who were involved in this activity. I hope CTCI’s Enterprise Visit activity will continue and I would recommend my friends to join.

First of all, I would like to thank for selecting me to participate in the “2017 Enterprise Visit for International Graduate Students”. I feel privileged to given the opportunity to visit top notched companies such as HIWIN, MiTAC, Advantech, Rhymebus and CTCI Corporation, and be sponsored trip-related expenses. I was able to enjoy the beauty of Sun Moon Lake and experience the local Ita Thao culture and Hakka Culture Development Center. My fascination about what this trip can give me begun with the formation I got by visiting InvesTaiwan Service Center, MOEA. We have been introduced to the possibilities for working in Taiwan as an employee, entrepreneur, doing business, and the requirements that should be met. Following it, I visited MiTAC, a company working on integration of hardware and software system into cloud and related fields. CTCI Corp. renowned as a leader in reliable engineering services across Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas was out next step. On the second day of our trip, we visited Advantech, Rhymebus and HIWIN. The third day of our visit was so wonderful. We had a chance to visit the beautiful Sun Moon Lake. We also watched the spectacular cultural dance of the aboriginals, and then to the Hakka Culture Development Center. Thank you once again for the opportunity. This has been an amazing experience for getting to know the leading Taiwanese companies and new friends from different countries.

The three day enterprise visit activity organized by CTCI Foundation was a great opportunity for me, as an international student, to learn about working environment as well as seek job opportunities in Taiwan. I also built a good relationship with people from different cultures during this trip. This trip gave me the real-time experience to explore and keep up with advanced technologies such as IoT and Industry 4.0. I learn the importance of these technologies in our daily life, that intents to make us feel more comfortable and secure. It motivates me to look forward to serving society in these industries. Meanwhile, during the company tours, we interacted directly with the higher corporation authorities to clarify doubts regarding job profiles and employers’ expectations for international talents. We had visited reputable companies of MiTAC, CTCI Corporation, Advantech, Rhymebus, and HIWIN. I am very impressed with the working environments and employee satisfaction in the Taiwanese industries. This activity had re-energized me by helping me to clear uncertain thoughts about my career. Apart from the industrial visit, there was also a tour through tourist sites to see natural beauty of Taiwan. I am very thankful to the CTCI Foundation for such wonderful arrangement to experience different sides of Taiwan. I hope CTCI Foundation will keep planning this kind of activity in the future to motivate and benefit international students.

To start off, I would like to thank CTCI Foundation for providing this exciting trip. From the trip, we have the opportunity to visit many famous companies, which I think is a good bridge to connect employers with international graduate students like us. I am especially interested in Advantech Corp. since this company produces many types of electronic equipment that I often use for my studies. Besides the visited companies, this trip also brings together many international students from distinguished universities in Taiwan. We met many new friends on the road of travelling, and had a chance to learn about the cultures of different countries. This trip was also a great experience in that we could stay in big modern hotel and famous resort, have great meals in great restaurants, and all of arrangement impressed us very much. Personally, I had been living in Taiwan for three years, but this was the first time I visited the Taichung city and the Sun Moon Lake. Sun Moon Lake is a special place with a lake in the mountain, and beautiful as the water is clear and blue. Thanks to CTCI for sponsoring and organizing this trip. The CTCI staff always took care of us and treated us like customers, not students. I hope that CTCI will have more activities like this to help connect foreign students with employers in Taiwan. In general, this was a fantastic trip in my student life. After three years of studying in Taiwan, I really love this country. Taiwan provides a dynamic environment as a modern country. Taiwanese people are so enthusiastic and friendly, and I will miss all of you. If I have a chance to work in Taiwan, I would be really happy.

CTCI Foundation has long committed itself to developing technological talents for Taiwan by arranging annual visits to Taiwan’s prominent enterprises for international graduate students. This is the best opportunity for foreign student to understand deeply about prospects of Taiwanese corporations and working environments. I was very interested in this event and I found the enterprise visit to be the best visit I had ever joined in Taiwan. InvesTaiwan Service Center brought me a lot of useful information and knowledge about working and investing in Taiwan. CTCI Corp., MiTAC, Advantech, Rhymebus and HIWIN which are all with delicate mechanical products, harvested green energy machine, complicated mechatronic devices, and many others. All of representatives were professional, kind, enthusiastic, and friendly to spend their precious time with us. I tasted many delicious traditional dishes and met friendly Taiwanese people in different counties. As well, for the first time, I visited an extremely beautiful area in Nantou called the Sun Moon Lake which is a beautiful alpine lake surrounded by mountains. It is a peaceful region with the special traditional culture of LaLu tribe and with no air pollution. The three day trip was too short, since the activities were very exciting and every participant was very much into it. All participants became friends and discussed with each other about researches, country cultures, hobbies, and universities where we are currently studying at. This trip was successful in that we learned useful information about Taiwanese corporations and special traditional cultures in Taiwan. I have a brighter view regarding job hunting in Taiwan after my graduation. Studying abroad is a great experience as it helps me to strengthen practical and theoretical skills, enrich my curriculum vitae, and train me to be more independent and so is working abroad. I hope I will have a chance to work with Mechanical Engineers and at the same time learning a lot of new technologies. I will introduce all this to my friends who are thinking of coming to Taiwan for study, research, or work in the near future.

The three day trip of enterprise visit was an unforgettable memory for me. Bing able to participate in this trip helped me gain valuable knowledge and insights about the working environments in Taiwanese corporations. The InvesTaiwan Service Center shared with us on information regarding the requirements for working, job matching, and investing in Taiwan. These are useful information for foreign students to know when we are trying to find jobs in Taiwan. MiTAC Corp. is a leading company on Internet of Things (IoT) technology and smart solution for transportation system. I was inspired by the presentation of MiTAC’s CEO about the solutions for smart campus, library, and transportation system. I believe these solutions can make the life of people better in Taiwan. From the talk by the CEO, I have gained valuable knowledge about what IoT technology is and its applications, and how they could help to make human life better. CTCI Corp. specializes in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). I was impressed by their professional working environment. The company introduction enabled us to gain more insights into the working environments. They introduced very useful job related information for international students who look forward to work for CTCI in the future. Advantech Corp. impressed me much with its green campus and friendly working environment. Advantech’s technical experts shared with us on information about smart factory and the developing technologies for Industry 4.0. Rhymebus Corp. is a leading company that produces AC Inverter and other equipment for automation system. CTCI Foundation’s three day enterprise visit held in August, 2017 included 31 international students, including myself, from various universities in Taiwan. We visited five representing corporations and one government agency. The InvesTaiwan Service Center encourages individuals to invest in Taiwan. The procedure, criteria, and policies for foreign investors are attractive and suitable to start business in Taiwan. Later on, we visited MiTAC which is an IoT based firm working on integration of hardware systems and core technologies to make corporate financing systems, surveillance system of plants, smart libraries using RFID, and smart healthcare system. Easy Card is a notable product from MiTAC. CTCI Corporation is the largest procurement, engineering and construction firm in Taiwan. I learned about how this firm collaborates with internationally well-known companies in many projects, as well as professional training system and engineering services. Advantech is another IoT based company which has about 8,000 products with a market share of 32% in this specific area. Rhymebus is a firm dedicated to energy saving solutions, with AC motor driver as the main product. They are also design a motor driver for cycling exercise machine. I would recommend them to design a similar motor drive for bicycle which would be useful to produce energy during bicycle riding. HIWIN is an ISO standardized company which is the second largest linear motion control and system manufacturer in the world. HIWIN has been received many honors and innovation awards internationally as well as on national level. Ball bearing, biomedical equipment, intelligent automation and precision machinery are some of its most famous products. For the last day, we visited Sun Moon Lake, the largest body of water in Taiwan, is a fascinating tourist attraction located in Nantou County. After that, we visited Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center in Miaoli County and watched an influential animated 3D movie. I learned many lessons regarding manufacturing, monitoring, automation, management and company ethics from the trip. I would like to thank CTCI Foundation. This was surely a memorable and wonderful trip!
