CTCI Foundation’s three day enterprise visit held in August, 2017 included 31 international students, including myself, from various universities in Taiwan. We visited five representing corporations and one government agency. The InvesTaiwan Service Center encourages individuals to invest in Taiwan. The procedure, criteria, and policies for foreign investors are attractive and suitable to start business in Taiwan. Later on, we visited MiTAC which is an IoT based firm working on integration of hardware systems and core technologies to make corporate financing systems, surveillance system of plants, smart libraries using RFID, and smart healthcare system. Easy Card is a notable product from MiTAC. CTCI Corporation is the largest procurement, engineering and construction firm in Taiwan. I learned about how this firm collaborates with internationally well-known companies in many projects, as well as professional training system and engineering services. Advantech is another IoT based company which has about 8,000 products with a market share of 32% in this specific area. Rhymebus is a firm dedicated to energy saving solutions, with AC motor driver as the main product. They are also design a motor driver for cycling exercise machine. I would recommend them to design a similar motor drive for bicycle which would be useful to produce energy during bicycle riding. HIWIN is an ISO standardized company which is the second largest linear motion control and system manufacturer in the world. HIWIN has been received many honors and innovation awards internationally as well as on national level. Ball bearing, biomedical equipment, intelligent automation and precision machinery are some of its most famous products. For the last day, we visited Sun Moon Lake, the largest body of water in Taiwan, is a fascinating tourist attraction located in Nantou County. After that, we visited Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center in Miaoli County and watched an influential animated 3D movie. I learned many lessons regarding manufacturing, monitoring, automation, management and company ethics from the trip. I would like to thank CTCI Foundation. This was surely a memorable and wonderful trip!
