2019 CTCI Science and Technology Scholarship Award Ceremony

The 2019 CTCI Science and Technology Scholarship Award Ceremony hold on the 10th floor Conference Room 1001 of the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation’s International Convention Center at 10:00 am on December 14 (Saturday).

Chairman of the Board-Dr. Wen-Yan Pan, made a personal appearance at the Ceremony. Chairman Pan said that “CTCI Science and Technology Scholarship” has been awarded to approximately 3,800 excellent students since 1963. Besides, 2019 coincided with the 60th anniversary of the CTCI foundation, so the award ceremony was particularly meaningful. Furthermore, he reiterated that “Introducing cutting-edge knowledge of science and technology, cultivating scientific and technological talents” was the core purpose of CTCI.

Former Vice President Mr. Vincent Siew was invited as a distinguished guest. In his speech, CTCI foundation had been established in the hard years for just 60 years, which was quite difficult. CTCI foundation's achievements under the leadership of the previous chairman and the efforts of colleagues were obvious to all, especially the adherence to the concept of "cultivating national scientific and technological talents" for 60 years.

 

undefinedCTCI Foundation also invited Dr. Kenneth L. Kin, the current Honorary Professor of National Tsinghua University and the 56-year scholarship winner, to give a keynote speech about "Semiconductor Industry Prospects and Challenges for Talent Cultivation". In the end, He encouraged students that ability, attitude, communication, and opportunity as the basic requirements for success.

Moreover, CPC Chairman-Dr. Jerry J. R. Ou, Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation Chairman-Hou Sheng Chan, CTCI Group’s Chairman-John T. Yu and many other guests, such as winning student's supervisors, families, friends and CTCI Foundation’s directors, nearly 220 people attended this awarding ceremony.

In 2019 CTCI Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship, 24 students won the "Research Scholarship" and 22 students won the "Research Scholarship for International Graduate Students". Each student was awarded a scholarship NT$ 150,000 and Chinese/English Certificate of merit. In addition, 16 students won the “Living Grants for International Graduate Students", each student was awarded a scholarship NT$ 100,000. A total of 62 outstanding students from 8 schools won the awards.

2019 also hold the first "CTCI Foundation Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition" to encourage innovators to combine creativity and technology by using AI. CTCI Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship awarded three themes: "AI & Education", "AI & Innovation Service" and "AI & Art". The first prize of each theme was NT$ 400,000, the second prize was NT$ 300,000, the third prize was NT$ 200,000, and the honorable mention was NT$ 50,000. A total of 17 exhibits, 81 teachers and students won.

Ou, Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation Chairman-Hou Sheng Chan and CTCI Group’s Chairman-John T. Yu. After that, winners had photo taken with all honored guests.
