On the morning of December 27th, the 2025 CTCI Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship Award Ceremony was held in Taipei International Convention Center (TICC). Nearly 250 people, including guests of honor, advisors and family members of scholarship recipients, CTCI Foundation directors, and colleagues, attended the ceremony. The total amount of scholarships and AI innovation competition awarded this year reached NT$13.35 million.
The Chairman of the CTCI Foundation, Dr. Wen-Ent Pan, stated that the scholarship has been awarded continuously for 63 years. In recent years, CTCI Foundation has allocated an annual budget of over NT$30 million for expenses related to technology and education. Among these expenditures, scholarships amounting to over NT$12 million are awarded each year. The cumulative number of scholarship recipients has exceeded 4,300. We have tracked 2,758 recipients, of whom a quarter have devoted themselves to research, 20% have become professors, and more than half have pursued careers in industry. Of those in the industry, over 960 hold senior- or mid-level executive positions in various fields, including industry leaders such as Mr. Stan Shih and Mr. C.C. Wei. Chairman Pan announced that CTCI Foundation plans to launch the “Employment Award for Overseas Graduate Students (Recent Graduates)” next year to support foreign graduates who are willing to based in Taiwan to develop their careers, thereby further strengthening Taiwan’s technological talent ecosystem.
Former Vice President, Mr. Vincent Siew, said in his remarks that under the leadership of Chairman Pan, the CTCI Foundation has built a comprehensive talent support system with a well-rounded scholarship and grant framework, setting a benchmark for private philanthropic organizations. He encourages students to maintain their passion for learning and curiosity, to continuously broaden their horizons and to strengthen their knowledge foundations in an era of rapid technological advancement.
The keynote speaker, Chair Professor and Former President of National Central University, Dr. Jing-Yang Jou, gave a speech titled “Advice for Young Scholars”. Drawing on his seasoned experience in academia and higher education, President Jou encouraged students to reflect on their futures from a broader perspective and to develop a global outlook in addressing global challenges.
This year, a total of 125 outstanding students were awarded scholarships: 27 for the Research Scholarship, 38 for the Innovation Scholarship (comprising 15 teams), 24 for the Research Scholarship for Overseas Students, 12 for the Bursary Award for Overseas Students, and 24 for the Scholarship Award for Excellence in Technical and Vocational Skills. Students of the first three types of scholarships received NT$150,000 and a certificate of merit each, students of the fourth type of scholarship received NT$100,000 each, and students of the fifth type of scholarship received NT$50,000 and a certificate of merit each. The theme of the 2025 CTCI Foundation AI Innovation Competition was “GenAI Applications”. The first, second, and third prize were NT$400,000, NT$300,000, and NT$200,000, respectively, while the honorable mention was NT$50,000. A total of 6 pieces of work from 28 teachers and students shared the prizes.
The award presenters this year including the Chairman of the CTCI Foundation Dr. Wen-Ent Pan, the Chairman of CTCI Group Mr. John Yu, Honorary Chairman of the Da Da Digital Charity Foundation Dr. David Lee, Chair Professor of CTCI Foundation Dr. Tzen-Wen Chen, and President of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Dr. Jia-Yush Yen. More than 20 distinguished guests, including the scholarship recipients' advisors, were also invited to the award ceremony to congratulate the students. The ceremony concluded warmly.
