First of all, I would like to say thanks to whom make such opportunity for International graduate student in Taiwan to have a better understanding about job vacancies in Taiwan for their future career plan. Following, I summarize all my points of view about this trip: Invest Taiwan Service Center: providing some statistics about the number of students who applied through this channel also a number of successful applications, some descriptive analysis to categorize the existing positions, would be helpful for students to have a better understanding about the the job market. CTCI Cooperation: everything was perfectly scheduled for our visit. Although I’m not familiar with civil engineering field, the introduction of the existing technology and how they adopted with Industry 4.0 (My research field) was interesting Phison Co.: since I am working for data management, Yield enhancement and fault detection for ICT industry during my Ph.D. studying, I was expected that such a big company like Phison has great backup for data- driven strategy, especially they mentioned about Big Data management, however I found that Big data, Industry 4.0 and IOT are fancy words for showing up that they are employing the new strategy but in reality still traditional system is working inside the company. From the business analytic points of view, Phison is a company which in close future will merge with another company, therefore collaboration with them is a bit risky. Hon Chuan group: sustainability and well transforming to the Industry 4.0 even for traditional Industry shows that for seeking a job is not necessary that looking for the High-tech industry, Hon Chuan has a complete package for all students from sales & marketing to power mechanical engineering, computer science or even biotechnology. Hiwin: I think Hiwin is one of the key component companies in Taiwan, however, due to our tight schedule, we didn’t have time to learn enough about this company, additionally some of their employees were not really professional to explain the details and return the answer to our question The most important thing I learned from this trip, stay optimistic for looking job in Taiwan, and improve my ability and skills.

My name is Pham Truong Nhat Phuong, a Ph.D. student from National Central University. Some days ago, I have golden opportunity to participate “2016 Enterprise Visit for International Graduate Students” held by CTCI Foundation. I think that trip is worthily memorable and changes my mind so much. Firstly, I felt more and more confident to face with an international and professional environment, we lived with some students not only come from Southeast Asian or Taiwan but also from Africa or Europe. Actually, I thought that every person who joined this CTCI trip has some special abilities, and now I could see apparently. Some friends are non-Chinese speakers but they can speak Chinese very fluently. Additionally, they are also studying from top national universities of Taiwan such as NTU, NCKU, NTHU, and NTUST… I strongly think I have to study and practice a lot and to be a part of active researchers in future. Secondly, every trip to Taiwan enterprises is an interesting story. The similarity between them is that their beginning point is just a small family firm. They built their own firm within twenty years as well as achieved international trademark and now, they are well-known giants. As the story of Taiwan Hon Chuan Group, actually, I have just known about their scope after the visit. An invisible giant who is very famous for its handling manufacture around the world, including Taiwan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Mozambique. Another story is about Phison. This company was found by only “five-person”, but now Phison is a market leader in Flash controllers and applications including USB, SD, and SATA. At present, Phison has more than 1,100 employees, and its total capital reaches NT$ 1.97 billion. Maybe the most impressive story I suppose is about Hiwin Technologies Corporation. Established in 1989, Hiwin Technologies Corp. is the 2nd largest linear motion control and system technology manufacturer in the world. I was really impressed by their linear guideways. Thank their design; I have a sudden idea about damping problem in earthquake engineering. Moreover, I cannot forget to mention about Invest Taiwan Service Center owning to their information about working qualifications for a foreigner like me. Besides, I feel a little bit regret because we do not have any chances to visit a construction corporation. In my opinion, I think that Taiwan’s technologies for construction and high-rise building can sufficiently compare with Japan (in design and calculation for resisting earthquakes, structural or geotechnical problems).

I feel very grateful to get a chance to join the 2016 Enterprise Visit for International Graduate Students event hosted by CTCI Foundation. From the beginning, I was planning to seek an experience to work abroad, so I decided to study to get my Master’s degree in Taiwan. I have an interest in microelectronics, especially in the semiconductor field, so I choose my major for my Master’s degree according to my interest above and hope that I can also be a part of Taiwan’s advanced semiconductor industry after I finish my master’s degree study. This Enterprise Visit event gives me a lot of knowledge about how to get a job in Taiwan as a foreigner, and also insight about the big companies in several fields, such as CTCI Corporation as a company working on construction engineering, Phison as a company working on electronics, Taiwan Hon Chuan as a company working on beverage packaging area, and also Hiwin a company working on automation and robotics. This visit makes me know what kind of working environment I will face when I work in Taiwan in the future. At first, I thought finding a job in Taiwan as a foreigner would be difficult because of the competition with the local talents is very tight. However, after joining this Enterprise Visit, I know which company are recruiting international talents, how to apply for a job. It makes me confident that I can get an offer to work in Taiwan after I graduated from university. I really want to get an experience to work in Taiwan’s advanced semiconductor industry, for it will not only good for me to learn Chinese and develop my skills in the industry at the same time but also could become a benefit for the company or even Taiwan in facing the globalization. I once again want to express my gratitude to CTCI Foundation who had given me a very good opportunity to join this Enterprise Visit, to experience a wonderful trip, and to get a lot of knowledge about Taiwan’s industry which will be very valuable for my own future. Thank you CTCI Foundation.

Firstly, I want to thank the CTCI foundation for giving me a chance to meet so many new friends who are excellent people from other countries and know much more about their cultures and languages. I experienced many sweet moments there with beautiful places, delicious meals, and interesting cultures like Hakka culture. By visited CTCI corporation and I learned the new technologies to scan the objects, the plan and design the 3D model. Besides that, I had a chance to visit the leading company such as Phison, HIWIN, and Hon Chuan. It broadened my knowledge and my understandings in fields of robotics which can be applied in the manufacturing industries, in biotech equipment, intelligent automation. In Phison, I had heard about the working experience from a nice manager. I saw the new updated products, known the working principles and the history and the way led to the global company in their fields. I knew about the best dynamic young people who had been working in that company, contributed their knowledge and creation to make a novel product. I was motivated so much after the trip. It encouraged me to study more, work hard to become a member of such company. From ITSC, I was introduced much about the job market, a chance to work in Taiwan and so many good policies for international students. It brought us closer to the employer, opening the avenue to my career. In the end, I really appreciate you about all the laughs you gave us through the trip

It is a great pleasure for me to join the 2016 Enterprise Visit from CTCI Foundation. How to work in Taiwan, what are the requirements, what is the meaning of that point in the requirements, what are the job searching platform in Taiwan, how is the company in Taiwan, what type of company in Taiwan that has international employees, how is the working environment? Those are some questions that my international friends and I myself were usually asked before. By joining this trip, I got the answers from those questions. Especially when we were visiting ITSC, now I know another recruitment platform, which has the clearer information related to the career requirements for a foreigner. Visited some companies, to have their brief introduction about their company, culture, and career also really a good experience for me. Different company, different history, different kind of people, but the most important is their records. This trip showed that the Taiwanese companies, such as CTCI, Taiwan Hon-Chuan, and Hiwin Technologies Corporation can compete well in the international market. CTCI showed about the technology they use, THC showed their history from the traditional beverage packaging to their stable condition now, and Hiwin showed their products that used widely in the world for machinery and some of the applications. The interesting thing that this trip showed me was Phison Electronics Corporation, which the chairman was a Malaysian student in Taiwan. It shows that Taiwan also open to the international students to have the opportunities to make their business in Taiwan. It was great to have such experiences and knowledge from this trip. The team from CTCI Foundation showed the kindness and the great hospitality to all of the participants. I really enjoyed it, hope we will keep connected and I believe this trip very useful for my successful career ahead. Thank you CTCI Foundation and team!

I get to know about this program last year and find it very interesting as the program brings you to various companies in Taiwan. Although it was quite disappointing that I was not selected at that time, it did not stop me from applying for it again this year. And finally, I was lucky enough to be one of the few selected ones to secure a place for this year’s program. During this trip, I have the opportunity to know more about Taiwan and at the same time, explore several Taiwan companies. Although not all are related to my field of study, it is an eye-opening experience to be able to know that there are quite a number of multinational companies in Taiwan who are keen to welcome us international students to join them. Besides that, the beginning of this trip gave me a better insight of the conditions to meet in order to work in Taiwan. This is very useful for me as the main reason I choose Taiwan to pursue my Master degree is to pursue my career here as well. Throughout this trip, I have gained not only information on various Taiwan companies and the chance to explore the beauty of Taiwan. I also have the chance to meet people from all over the world. From there I got the chance to know about their country and culture better while expanding my network of friends. So many memories have been made throughout these 3 days. All were filled with so much fun, joy, and laughter. Although it is just a short 3 days 2 nights trip, it is a trip I’ll definitely remember for many more years to come. Thank you, for giving me the opportunity to create so many wonderful memories with various parts of the world and you all.

Once I got the information of 2016 enterprise visit for international graduate students from Office of International Affair of National Dong Hwa University by CTCI Foundation, I was curious and also interested, Since the objectives are to enhance the willingness of international graduate students to have a career in Taiwan and to introduce the working culture and environment in Taiwan’s companies. After finishing all the three days trip (September 8th to September 10th), I am really grateful to have this experience as a candidate for this event. I got a lot of information such as the administrative affair to work in Taiwan, general company requirements, the vacancy and opportunities to work in Taiwan, and the general insight of some great companies in Taiwan. Other good things are the touring to some good places in Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taichung and enjoying Taiwan’s delicious foods. I think it is good to have a career in Taiwan, and hope later I could have one after graduate. I have a suggestion for CTCI foundation if it is possible to arrange the internship for the international students with related companies based on the international student's background to have more tangible experience of working environment/culture and to interact more with many local and international professionals in Taiwan. Therefore, the international students get more confidence to work with Taiwan’s company. I really appreciate this event and I will suggest another student in National Dong Hwa University for the following enterprise visit. Finally, I want to thank the group manager, service staff, lecturer and all the committee in CTCI Foundation who contributed to this event.

The purpose of the trip was visiting corporations in Taiwan, learning how the real business operates, having face to face discussion with managers, and understanding the development and prospects of Taiwan's high-tech and green industry. The trip started with visiting Invest Taiwan Service Center (ITSC), where we obtain comprehensive information about the legal issues related to working in Taiwan. The most important part was when the speaker explained the requirements to obtain working visa and introduced the top industries where foreigners are hired. She also gave us many pieces of advice or suggestions which clarify the process from graduating to starting working in Taiwan. After a meeting in ITSC, we visited some local tourist attractions such as Dadaocheng districts, where later on we took a river cruise. We had the opportunity to see Taipei from the other side, which made the desire to stay and work in Taiwan even stronger. The second stop was on CTCI Corporation, which is the largest engineering and construction firm in Taiwan. The speaker introduced us to some new technology they are working on and are proud to use it in the future. The speech was fascinating for civil construction students who had the chance to learn how the company applies things they study at university. The second day, we started in Hsinchu by visiting Phison Electronics Corporation. The most interesting part was that the owners and co-founders are not Taiwanese. It was definitely a real proof that Taiwan has a friendly environment for foreigners to establish their own business as well as find a job. The speaker was Brazilian employee who in an enthusiastic way presented the company and the main products. Some of us were surprised to know that probably most of us were using the its USB products. In addition, the speaker presented the working environment in Phison Electronic in a way that I regret I have not chosen to study IT or related subjects. The next company, we have the pleasure to visit was Taiwan Hon Chuan Group, whose main business is beverage-packaging. We were friendly welcomed and introduced to the main business of the company. We had the luck to see in person the whole process of the packaging, which gave another glance at how huge and powerful enterprises operate in Taiwan. The last but not least important company we visited was Hiwin Technologies Corporation. It is the 2nd largest linear motion control and system technology manufacturer in the world. I was impressed by its operation and innovations. We had the pleasure to learn details about the flag products. The third day we spent on enjoying the beauty of Taiwan. We visited places that are not so famous among tourist. It also gave us a chance to meet Taiwan from the other angle, which likely would not take place if not for the trip. To summarize, before the trip, I did not realize that such a small island as Taiwan has so many impressive companies that help to make the world better and easier. It was an honor to have the opportunity to participate in enterprise visit so I could learn about it personally. I am totally affirmed to stay and work in Taiwan after graduation. The trip convinced me that there is no other place that could offer happy working environment along with the opportunity to develop and satisfying career. It was a great privilege to meet the managers of the companies as well as the colleagues and organizers of the event.

This trip allows me to discover and learn more about 4 different companies in Taiwan as well as exploring the beauty of Taiwan through different touristic spots. First of all, this trip was really interesting for professional aspect because we saw different companies and went through different job area. This trip was important and useful to learn what Taiwanese companies are doing, how they work and also get the philosophy, advice of people working in these companies. Getting the chance to approach people working in these companies is always a must to directly obtain information about the company and also their point of view. Furthermore, from this trip I could get closer to some Taiwanese companies, and know more about their activities and what type of people they are looking for to work with them. I have a semiconductor area background so for most of these companies, it was a discovery of their activities except for Phison Electronics Corporation. Phison Electronics Corporation visit was particularly interesting because the presentation has been made by a foreigner working in the company. The fact that a foreigner was doing the presentation is an interesting point for me because I could get his point of view which is inevitably different than a local people because both of them are facing different challenges and they also have different experiences. I think one of the first challenges for a foreigner in Taiwan is the language barrier, that’s why I think learning Chinese is really important to work in Taiwan for communication inside and also outside of the company. The language barrier is an aspect I am considering for working in Taiwan and I also know that Taiwan is not a model for vacation. This aspect also makes me hesitate for working in Taiwan in the future. Vacation aspect is important because even if working is a necessity, life is not working all the time. With Phison talk I saw that companies in Taiwan are trying to make efforts and change this aspect to give a better life environment and quality to their employees so it is a good point to keep in mind. To sum up, visiting these companies was really interesting and I could see that most of them perform well in terms of quality, innovations and employees’ life quality. All the companies we visited have shown positive points and they are willing to improve and develop their activities. These are some aspects I really appreciate and can make me think for working in Taiwan in the future. To finish I would gratefully thank all the people that organized and planned this amazing trip as well as all the people that accompanied us during this trip, it would stay a great memory, thank you very much.

I learned so much and gained so many friends through participating in this activity. I was fascinated by CTCI Company which works on 3D work and I think this kind of business is very innovative and helpful. Then, we visited Phison. Although I don’t have enough knowledge about IT, I still gained new and interesting knowledge. Then, we visited Hon Chuan which I felt is the best company that related to my background. I was able to learn and got the opportunity to meet the HR to continue looking for a job in Taiwan. We also visited the famous broken bridge that we took a lot of photos there. The next day, we moved to Miaoli and having so much fun; riding a bicycle, watching saxophone performance, visiting Hakka cultural museum. All of them were unforgettable. The most exciting one was the food. I tried so many kinds of food and all of them were extremely delicious! I successfully expand my connection as well, meeting and getting to know other International participants was a great experience for me. I think this is such a great platform where foreigners have their opportunity to work in Taiwan and in return, Taiwan also can expand their international market by having foreigner labor. I think this is a great idea to continue this kind of cooperation for a sustain business and economy. Besides having a lot of fun, I also understand about the law of foreigner working in Taiwan. In conclusion, I think that was such a great experience I’ve ever had while having fun, we’re also gaining a lot of experience and knowledge. I thank CTCI foundation for this worth it experience.
