俞肇鳯/Fenny Anggraini Prastiyo ((輔仁大學IMBA碩二) 印尼)

From what I observe, the objective on this trip is to connect the international talents and the companies. I think the CTCI Foundation’s staffs have done a great job to achieve this objective. You equip us with the introduction of working visa application process. It is crucial for us to understand the requirements and the process of working visa application so that we can prepare ourselves to meet those requirements. Moreover, by visiting the companies, it can give us a better understanding about the companies and what kind of talents they need. To make it even better, you also provide a way for us to connect with the companies after the trip is over. Yet, I see that there are two areas that this event can improve to make this trip gets even better. First, it seems there is a different focus on each company’s presentation. It will be better if they have the same focus, for instance, put the focus on company introduction and the open positions with its benefit & compensation. Another comment is about the clear dress code. In my opinion, I feel that we’re looked underdressed and don’t look professional enough in the eyes of the companies. There are three words that can summarize how this event impact in my life. The first word is “knowledge.” In the past, I don’t really get much chance to interact with science, engineering, and technologies people. So this event gave me a chance to learn a lot about science and technologies from the companies and other participants. The second word is “networking.” I also got a chance to connect myself with the companies’ professionals and other international students. It can broaden my professional and social networks, and who knows it will open more opportunities for me in the future. The last word is “professionalism.” I learn something from observing the professionals, including the companies’ professionals and CTCI Foundation staffs. One thing I learn is to be a professional it doesn’t mean that you have to be serious all the time. The ability to make others feel comfortable and having a sense of humor are also necessary. Hence, be a professional can be fun too!

The purpose of the trip was visiting corporations in Taiwan, learning how the real business operates, having face to face discussion with managers, and understanding the development and prospects of Taiwan's high-tech and green industry.
The trip started with visiting Invest Taiwan Service Center (ITSC), where we obtain comprehensive information about the legal issues related to working in Taiwan. The most important part was when the speaker explained the requirements to obtain working visa and introduced the top industries where foreigners are hired. She also gave us many pieces of advice or suggestions which clarify the process from graduating to starting working in Taiwan.
After a meeting in ITSC, we visited some local tourist attractions such as Dadaocheng districts, where later on we took a river cruise. We had the opportunity to see Taipei from the other side, which made the desire to stay and work in Taiwan even stronger.
The second stop was on CTCI Corporation, which is the largest engineering and construction firm in Taiwan. The speaker introduced us to some new technology they are working on and are proud to use it in the future. The speech was fascinating for civil construction students who had the chance to learn how the company applies things they study at university.
The second day, we started in Hsinchu by visiting Phison Electronics Corporation. The most interesting part was that the owners and co-founders are not Taiwanese. It was definitely a real proof that Taiwan has a friendly environment for foreigners to establish their own business as well as find a job. The speaker was Brazilian employee who in an enthusiastic way presented the company and the main products. Some of us were surprised to know that probably most of us were using the its USB products. In addition, the speaker presented the working environment in Phison Electronic in a way that I regret I have not chosen to study IT or related subjects.
The next company, we have the pleasure to visit was Taiwan Hon Chuan Group, whose main business is beverage-packaging. We were friendly welcomed and introduced to the main business of the company. We had the luck to see in person the whole process of the packaging, which gave another glance at how huge and powerful enterprises operate in Taiwan.
The last but not least important company we visited was Hiwin Technologies Corporation. It is the 2nd largest linear motion control and system technology manufacturer in the world. I was impressed by its operation and innovations. We had the pleasure to learn details about the flag products.
The third day we spent on enjoying the beauty of Taiwan. We visited places that are not so famous among tourist. It also gave us a chance to meet Taiwan from the other angle, which likely would not take place if not for the trip.
To summarize, before the trip, I did not realize that such a small island as Taiwan has so many impressive companies that help to make the world better and easier. It was an honor to have the opportunity to participate in enterprise visit so I could learn about it personally. I am totally affirmed to stay and work in Taiwan after graduation. The trip convinced me that there is no other place that could offer happy working environment along with the opportunity to develop and satisfying career. It was a great privilege to meet the managers of the companies as well as the colleagues and organizers of the event.

This trip allows me to discover and learn more about 4 different companies in Taiwan as well as exploring the beauty of Taiwan through different touristic spots.
First of all, this trip was really interesting for professional aspect because we saw different companies and went through different job area. This trip was important and useful to learn what Taiwanese companies are doing, how they work and also get the philosophy, advice of people working in these companies. Getting the chance to approach people working in these companies is always a must to directly obtain information about the company and also their point of view.
Furthermore, from this trip I could get closer to some Taiwanese companies, and know more about their activities and what type of people they are looking for to work with them. I have a semiconductor area background so for most of these companies, it was a discovery of their activities except for Phison Electronics Corporation.
Phison Electronics Corporation visit was particularly interesting because the presentation has been made by a foreigner working in the company. The fact that a foreigner was doing the presentation is an interesting point for me because I could get his point of view which is inevitably different than a local people because both of them are facing different challenges and they also have different experiences. I think one of the first challenges for a foreigner in Taiwan is the language barrier, that’s why I think learning Chinese is really important to work in Taiwan for communication inside and also outside of the company. The language barrier is an aspect I am considering for working in Taiwan and I also know that Taiwan is not a model for vacation. This aspect also makes me hesitate for working in Taiwan in the future. Vacation aspect is important because even if working is a necessity, life is not working all the time. With Phison talk I saw that companies in Taiwan are trying to make efforts and change this aspect to give a better life environment and quality to their employees so it is a good point to keep in mind.
To sum up, visiting these companies was really interesting and I could see that most of them perform well in terms of quality, innovations and employees’ life quality. All the companies we visited have shown positive points and they are willing to improve and develop their activities. These are some aspects I really appreciate and can make me think for working in Taiwan in the future.
To finish I would gratefully thank all the people that organized and planned this amazing trip as well as all the people that accompanied us during this trip, it would stay a great memory, thank you very much.

I learned so much and gained so many friends through participating in this activity. I was fascinated by CTCI Company which works on 3D work and I think this kind of business is very innovative and helpful. Then, we visited Phison. Although I don’t have enough knowledge about IT, I still gained new and interesting knowledge. Then, we visited Hon Chuan which I felt is the best company that related to my background. I was able to learn and got the opportunity to meet the HR to continue looking for a job in Taiwan. We also visited the famous broken bridge that we took a lot of photos there. The next day, we moved to Miaoli and having so much fun; riding a bicycle, watching saxophone performance, visiting Hakka cultural museum. All of them were unforgettable. The most exciting one was the food. I tried so many kinds of food and all of them were extremely delicious!
I successfully expand my connection as well, meeting and getting to know other International participants was a great experience for me. I think this is such a great platform where foreigners have their opportunity to work in Taiwan and in return, Taiwan also can expand their international market by having foreigner labor. I think this is a great idea to continue this kind of cooperation for a sustain business and economy. Besides having a lot of fun, I also understand about the law of foreigner working in Taiwan. In conclusion, I think that was such a great experience I’ve ever had while having fun, we’re also gaining a lot of experience and knowledge. I thank CTCI foundation for this worth it experience.

I think that CTCI Foundation arranged “Invest Taiwan Service Center (ITSC)” as the first stop is a very brilliant idea. ITSC offers international “one-stop” recruitment service and interactive job-matchmaking platform. We got such opportunity as a global talent to know the relative issues about residence and work in Taiwan.
Make us know that Taiwan has such many of global company, even though Taiwan is very small compared with my country, Indonesia. Visiting CTCI, Phison, Taiwan Hon Cuan, and Hiwin give me so much knowledge, even though I only can understand CTCI Corp. (because I study in the same field, civil engineering), but I can learn how the real business operates with their focus area technology, and have face to face discussion with these company is very good experience for us. And it’s surprising that we got many souvenirs from the company.
Combining a tour to a very high-quality company with the funny enjoyable cultural trip and attraction, I personally very love this experience. Moreover, many international students have inspired me to look a different way than before. The most important thing is all of the cost are cover by the CTCI Foundation, that really help us to have more understanding about Taiwan’s business and working environments, many thanks and hope it will hold more years forward to other new coming student, and CTCI foundation can develop and give more and more for its surrounding.

Thanks to the CTCI Foundation which has organized this event. So a lot of benefits and knowledge gained, in particular about how and what should be prepared to find a job in Taiwan.
Right now I'm studying at the National Chin-Yi University of Technology, of course, I also thought about what I would do after graduating from here. At first, I just thought after I finished school, I would go home and find a job there. But after attending this event, my mind seemed to open that we can work in Taiwan are certainly (in my opinion) in terms of salaries and better facilities than in Indonesia. Honestly, I'm very interested and make this as my motivation.
But there is a requirement that I think is quite important and quite difficult, that we should be able to speak Chinese in terms of writing, speaking, and listening. During my one year here, so I studied the Chinese language for more than 6 months, and my ability is still lacking. So I have to study harder.
At the time of the event, we were all visiting five companies. And the company is sufficiently related to my major now, but Phison Electronics Corporation caught my attention, because the thesis I was doing it was associated with a wide variety of electronic components.
But I really like the design, I like to draw and design a building, refrigeration systems, air-conditioning systems, or other tools. After I read the company profile and visit directly CTCI Corporation I am very interested and feel like someday to join and work there.
Besides open my mind about the job, after attending this event I can get a lot of new friends from different countries. I am very glad to get acquainted with them all. And also to the committee which has been very well organized this activity, thank you so much.
Lastly, I hope CTCI Foundation can continue to organize events like this and hopefully one day I can join and work in Taiwan. Thank you CTCI Foundation.

The CTCI Foundation 2016 Enterprise Visit was an extremely well-executed trip for graduate students. The most influential part was the introduction to the Invest Taiwan Service Center on the first day. I appreciated the clarification of the points system now included in the process for obtaining a work permit and that for entrepreneur visas for those of us with interest in running a business in Taiwan. All the information provided was pertinent that I shared it with my friends and foreign colleagues here.
Although the staff of ITSC prepared to meet with us, there were a few questions that may not have been satisfactorily answered due to miscommunication or just plainly lost in translation. But this is often unavoidable when translating two challenging languages. All in all, the assistance is given to us by ITSC is immeasurable.
The various enterprises warmly welcomed the graduate students and displayed impressive introductions to their companies and the work they currently produce. Opening the floor to students for questions was a wonderful opportunity to better understand the work environments at each enterprise even though the students, including myself, were too shy to confer.
I would like to suggest possibly broadening the company categories as this enterprise visit mainly pertained to persons within the electrical or mechanical engineering or marketing fields. Although these may be the most common fields that foreigners in Taiwan are affiliated with or accepted into, a couple of the more uncommon areas where Taiwan may need to expand could also be considered, such as, environmental engineering, medicine, textiles, food science/industry (though this was somewhat covered by the Taiwan Hon Chuan Group).
I also thoroughly enjoyed the visits to some of the touristic sites in Taizhong and Miaoli. These stops provided a great refresher in between enterprise visits and gave the students time to interact with each other and form a network across the various universities we attend. With new friends, we may build bridges for future co-operations.
I hope that the CTCI Foundation Enterprise Visit will be an annual venture for years to come so that more graduate students will be encouraged to remain in Taiwan and positively contribute to its development and society.

It is an honor to write the role of “2016 Enterprise Visit for International Graduate Students” for my future life. Along the journey, I got a lot of knowledge related to engineering backgrounds, especially CTCI Corporation preview. It is related to my educational background as a chemical engineer. After visiting some companies in Taiwan, I am interested in joining the company if I have an opportunity to work in Taiwan.
During the trip, I visit the CTCI Corporation, Phison Electronics Corporation, Taiwan Hon Chuan Group, and Hiwin Technologies Corporation. All of the companies are very interesting and teaching me about working environment also the products overview. However, out of all the companies, I am glad if I have a chance to join the CTCI Corporation and Taiwan Hon Chuan Group because those companies background are suitable with my educational background.
I also got information from Invest Taiwan Service Center which is very helpful for foreigners who want to find a job in Taiwan. At the end of my study, I would send my CV to those companies or ITSC to be International Worker in Taiwan. Moreover, I would like to thank all the CTCI Foundation for giving me an opportunity to join this trip and introduce some companies in Taiwan. It is a valuable and unforgotten moment in my life.

李端行/Li Duanxing(台灣大學-中國大陸)

許浴桐/Kho Yi Tung(交通大學-馬來西亞)

I get to know about this program last year and find it very interesting as the program brings you to various companies in Taiwan. Although it was quite disappointing that I was not selected at that time, it did not stop me from applying for it again this year. And finally, I was lucky enough to be one of the few selected ones to secure a place for this year’s program.
During this trip, I have the opportunity to know more about Taiwan and at the same time, explore several Taiwan companies. Although not all are related to my field of study, it is an eye-opening experience to be able to know that there are quite a number of multinational companies in Taiwan who are keen to welcome us international students to join them. Besides that, the beginning of this trip gave me a better insight of the conditions to meet in order to work in Taiwan. This is very useful for me as the main reason I choose Taiwan to pursue my Master degree is to pursue my career here as well.
Throughout this trip, I have gained not only information on various Taiwan companies and the chance to explore the beauty of Taiwan. I also have the chance to meet people from all over the world. From there I got the chance to know about their country and culture better while expanding my network of friends. So many memories have been made throughout these 3 days. All were filled with so much fun, joy, and laughter. Although it is just a short 3 days 2 nights trip, it is a trip I’ll definitely remember for many more years to come. Thank you, for giving me the opportunity to create so many wonderful memories with various parts of the world and you all.

Once I got the information of 2016 enterprise visit for international graduate students from Office of International Affair of National Dong Hwa University by CTCI Foundation, I was curious and also interested, Since the objectives are to enhance the willingness of international graduate students to have a career in Taiwan and to introduce the working culture and environment in Taiwan’s companies. After finishing all the three days trip (September 8th to September 10th), I am really grateful to have this experience as a candidate for this event. I got a lot of information such as the administrative affair to work in Taiwan, general company requirements, the vacancy and opportunities to work in Taiwan, and the general insight of some great companies in Taiwan. Other good things are the touring to some good places in Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taichung and enjoying Taiwan’s delicious foods. I think it is good to have a career in Taiwan, and hope later I could have one after graduate.
I have a suggestion for CTCI foundation if it is possible to arrange the internship for the international students with related companies based on the international student's background to have more tangible experience of working environment/culture and to interact more with many local and international professionals in Taiwan. Therefore, the international students get more confidence to work with Taiwan’s company.
I really appreciate this event and I will suggest another student in National Dong Hwa University for the following enterprise visit. Finally, I want to thank the group manager, service staff, lecturer and all the committee in CTCI Foundation who contributed to this event.

安以心/Annie Kieth Librando(成功大學-菲律賓)

Being able to take part of the CTCI Foundation’s activity made me feel so fortunate, to be chosen among other international graduate students. Before, I didn’t know that those companies existed. From these short visits of each company, I learned something new. Talking about the technology being used for designing, which in my field in engineering is a very useful tool in project implementation. I may don’t have an idea which software they used, but it is such an interesting one, having to make a 3D model for an as-built infrastructure by means of images. It made me think to try it in the future if any such situation arises. On the other company visit, because I’m not really into computer programming, it seems to me that this world is so lucky to have people who were able to invent this fascinating technology that we consumers won’t have any trouble taking pace on every new technology comes out. It is just so wonderful that they made our life easier. It is such a privilege to visit a “traditional” company that existed for almost 50 years, having able to see the production process. How they illustrated their company’s vision, I can tell that they are aiming to soar high. Just like an eagle, a kind of breed which is a silent-type and yet observing what is happening in its surroundings, and when a problem occurs, it knows how to handle the situation. The last company visited offers a very high technology system on their products. A world class product I must say. Also, it seems to me that the way the employees perform, it is proportional to what their products are all about, with precision. To work in a company that caters not only locals but especially international consumers is a very challenging task.
